The Importance of Continuing Education at CBI

Continuing Education is a broad term for any learning acquired after a receiving their primary form of education (Undergraduate Degree, Certification, Diploma, etc.). At CBI Telecommunications Consultants, we believe our experts education doesn’t stop after being told “you got the job”. We know how important professional growth is within our organization, and  we understand that market demand is an ever changing landscape. Above all, it’s imperative that our employees deliver the expertise that our clients deserve.

CBI’s Founder & CEO, Denise Booms-Pepin promised a $1,500 scholarship/stipend for each employee in the year 2019. This scholarship/stipend could be used towards any form of education, training or certification that progresses the employees knowledge of their primary job functions/responsibilities. CBI’s employees have used their scholarships/stipends in many different ways:

  • Attending telecom industry training
  • Hosting a lunch and learn
  • Obtaining further industry related certifications
  • Training for how to get the most out of our sales tools
  • Taking part in hands on workshops and seminars

Our very own Director of Marketing, Justin Emelander spent two days in Chicago at one of the largest B2B Content Marketing conferences; Content Jam. This is a two-day event that more than 600 marketers attend sharing insights into content strategy, promotion, conversion and analytics. Justin had this to say: “Although I’ve spent several years working and studying within the Marketing field, the two days spent at Content Jam gave me many actionable items/ideas that I could implement within my role at CBI. The speakers were knowledgeable and did an excellent job at cascading the information being taught. I’d be all for making this a yearly event”.

Amanda Doner is a Customer Service Manager for GTEM® Solutions, which is CBI’s Telecom Expense Management offering. She decided to use her stipend to become a Certified Scrum Master. Described on the scrumalliance.org website; As a Certified ScrumMaster®, you’ll help the Scrum Team perform at their highest level. CSMs also protect the team from both internal and external distractions. After her training, Amanda had this to say about her experience: “I learned a lot from the class and have a few suggestions for Denise on how to improve our processes!  I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in learning more about the Agile methodology and product management.  I have brought back a pamphlet that lists the different classes you can take.”

CBI’s Director of Business Development, Hayley Owczarzak spent her stipend taking advanced training on the Salesforce platform. She had this to say about her exeprience: “I am so lucky to be a part of a company that encourages growth and provides all employees the opportunity to further their education and knowledge in areas that will benefit us long term. I chose to use a portion of my stipend to take a Salesforce training class. In this course I learned new ways utilize our CRM that would help increase efficiency across the Sales team while leveraging new tools that we did not know about. I am excited to implement the new things I have learned and take our sales team to the next level”!

The only thing certain with the telecom industry is that it will continue to evolve and improve, offering more opportunities to our clients. Our leadership and experts are committed to making CBI the industry standard by keeping up with and staying in front of these changes/opportunities through continuing education.
