NETWORK RECEPTION
The 2018 WBENC Conference celebrated the 20th anniversary of the event, and was hosted in our home state in Detroit, Michigan. CBI wanted to make sure when you come to Michigan, not only will you have a good time, but you will do good things as well.
Through their partnership with the Great Lakes Women's Business Council, CBI Telecommunications hosted a Network Reception in the Eastern Market District of Detroit. The theme of the reception celebrated the street art culture that helped turn an entire city into a canvas. Two Unique catered with several street food options:
- Falafel Bowl
- Danang Chicken
- Buckwheat Soba Noodle Salad
- Pineapple Salsa Tacos
GIVING BACK
Above all, CBI wanted to use this event as a way to give back to the community. Our team stumbled across a charity called Mittens for Detroit. This is a non-profit founded by actress Erin Cummings, that provides Mittens that help provide mittens to the less fortunate through hundreds of agencies, nonprofits, schools, shelters, medical facilities and other organizations in Detroit. As of 2018, Mittens for Detroit has provided nearly one-quarter million pairs of mittens and gloves, as a result of the kindness and generosity of thousands of donors and volunteers.
With our Network Reception, we asked that attendees bring in any cash or mitten donations to help their cause. Through our attendee efforts, over $200 dollars were raised and several pairs of mittens went to those in need.
