Lear Corporation Case Study
Company Profile
Lear Corporation is a leading supplier of automotive seating and electrical, ranked #147 on the Fortune 500 as of 3Q2019. Lear serves its customers on a global scale, with headquarters in Southfield, Michigan and 241 locations in 37 countries around the globe and employs approximately 150,000 employees. Lear is traded under the symbol [LEA] on the New York Stock Exchange.
Business Situation - The Problem
The IT Director was wearing a lot of hats, overseeing not only all fixed voice and data services, but mobility as well, all on a global scale. His staff was spread thin, and lacked the telecom industry expertise to effectively audit & manage their complex billing, contracts and services. Time was spent re-actively dealing with hot-button issues or launching projects, leaving little time to proactively optimize services, or to follow-up, verify and finish projects. Lear had a TEM solution, but did not have confidence in how it was being supported & managed.
Technical Situation - The Solution
CBI Telecom conducted an audit of fixed and mobility voice contracts and invoices to verify accurate billing. Mobility cost reduction driven thru negotiation of new contracts as well as moving devices to superior plans to reduce International Roaming and LD charges. CBI assisted Lear in the accurate implementation of a recently begun migration of Local services to Bullseye, assuring that all lines were migrated and placed on the most cost-effective pricing available. CBI worked with AT&T and other vendors as contracts were approaching expiration to negotiate new contracts on behalf of Lear. CBI’s TEM offering—GTEM Solutions—took over as Lear’s TEM, with dedicated account management both in the USA and EMEA region.

An additional benefit of working with CBI Telecom is CBI’s status as a woman-owned business (WBENC), which helped Lear reach a corporate goal in 2016—being inducted into the “Billion Dollar Roundtable Inc.,” a top-level corporate advocacy organization that promotes supply chain diversity excellence.
Lacks Enterprises
“Due to significant growth, Lacks Enterprises retained CBI to evaluate various options that would enhance our data capabilities, while accommodating our voice needs. Their knowledge and expertise was obvious in the results. In addition to helping us choose the best solution and suppliers for this project, they were able to reduce our overall telecom expenses by 38%. We continue to use CBI for ongoing projects and monthly bill reviews.”
